ACT OF 1971

We need science, experience, and rational thought to bring the WH & B Program under control. To that end I sincerely hope the Wild Horse and Burro Advisory Board will step up to the plate and let Congress know they need to pony up hundreds of millions of dollars under the present legislation or change the Act of 71 and create a more horse and budget friendly Act that is based on reality. If Congress does nothing the Secretary of the Interior should follow the law and cause all excess wild free-roaming horses and Burros, both on range and off range, for which an adoption demand by qualified individuals does not exist to be immediately destroyed in the most humane and cost-efficient manner possible or sold with a clear and free tittle.  If sold most may go to a slaughterhouse but it would allow wild horse advocates to save all the horses and burros on their own dime.  50 years of failure is enough.

In 2016 I wrote”45 Years of the Wild Horse & Burro Act of 1971” and hope to rewrite it as “50 Years of the Wild Free-Roaming Act of 1971” before 2021 ends.
